Sorted by price, lowest first. Prices from the booking platform; the price at checkout is the one that counts.

The Ben Youssef Madrasa entrance fee is 50 MAD for foreign adults. Moroccan adults pay 20 MAD on showing a Moroccan identity card, children under 12 pay 10 MAD, and groups of 21 people or more pay 30 MAD per person (official prices, 2026).

In short

  • 50 MAD is a little under €5 or about US$5 (2026 rates).
  • No student, senior or family ticket on the official list.
  • You pay at the entrance: tickets are sold only at the entrance; the official online ticketing was under maintenance when we checked.
  • Tours usually charge for the guide only; the entry fee comes on top.

The official price list

Visitor Price
Foreign adult 50 MAD
Moroccan adult, with national ID card 20 MAD
Child under 12 10 MAD
Group of 21 people or more, per person 30 MAD

The official homepage words the group rule as “more than 20 people” while the price pages say “21 people or more”. Both mean the same thing in practice: a group of 21 or more.

What a family or couple pays

The fee is per person, with no family ticket. A couple pays 100 MAD; two adults and two children under 12 pay 120 MAD. Teenagers aged 12 and over pay the adult rate.

For comparison, medina tours that stop at the madrasa cost from about €10 to €50 per person on the booking platforms, and most of them do not include the madrasa fee. The two that do are marked “Madrasa ticket included” below.

What the ticket includes

One ticket covers the whole building: the entrance vestibule, the main courtyard and its pool, the prayer hall with the Andalusian marble basin, and the student rooms on both floors. There is no separate ticket for the upper floor and no timed slot.

The ticket does not cover the other sights in the Ben Youssef area, such as the Almoravid Koubba, the Marrakech Museum or Le Jardin Secret, which each charge their own fee. See what to see nearby.

Is it good value?

At under €5, it is one of the cheaper major monuments in Marrakech: tour listings give Bahia Palace at 100 MAD, double the madrasa. You get a building completed in 1564–1565 with 134 rooms to explore, for about an hour. Our honest view is in is it worth it?

Do prices change?

They can. The madrasa was closed for restoration from November 2018 to April 2022, and older guidebooks and blogs quote other prices from before or around that time. Trust the official price page over anything else, including this guide. We check it regularly; the date at the top of this page is the last time we did.
